Make your own Kombucha Workshop, 1-3pm on May 17
An interactive hands on workshop to teach you how to make a delicious Kombucha at home!
A highly anticipated spring workshop! This is a unique opportunity to learn from us how to brew your own probiotic beverage in the comfort of our beautiful dedicated Kombucha brewery.
When: Sunday May 17, 2020 from 1pm to 3pm
12 Gore St. East,
We will begin the workshop with a traditional ceremonial tea tasting to understand complexity of high quality ingredients that make up a successful brew like Artizen Kombucha! Then together we will make kombucha step by step, and at the end of the day you will go home with your first batch of kombucha. You will be able to ask many questions throughout the workshop. We zoom in on details of proper fermentation, as well as successful flavouring and carbonation of kombucha.
Sebastien Armand, head brewer and co-owner of Artizen Kombucha, has been brewing kombucha for at least 10 years. He has a huge passion for fresh, local nutrient dense foods, ferments and preparations. Sebastien is a certified permaculture consultant. He studied with Geoff Lawton and Sepp Holzer. He created permaculture gardens and projects in USA, Jamaica, Turkey, Spain, Canada and Costa Rica. Sebastien also worked in his uncle's restaurant in Paris, where he learnt to pair flavours and textures to create one of a kind dishes. Sebastien's passion for healthy living and eating is unparalleled, and he is excited to share this knowledge.
Daria (Dasha) Smolentseva, second generation entrepreuneur and co-founder of Artizen Kombucha. Originally born in Siberia, Russia - she fell in love with fermented foods in her Grandmother's kitchen. Dasha finished her studies with highest honours, and received a scholarship to come study at Carleton University. Dasha spent many years working in the agricultural sector, as well as non-profit and eventually, together with Sebastien created Artizen Kombucha in 2016. Artizen Kombucha is her true full time passion, that she is excited to share!
